Book store

I have added to my stack of books to read having spent an hour or so in Chapters today. Looked for Margaret Drabble's The Red Queen but they didn't have it in stock. Did find the Lynne Truss Treasury which was on my wish list and after much musing I picked up Penelope Lively's The Photograph and Adultery by Richard B. Wright, the latter because it is likely to be on our book circle list. I am still working through Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell. It is a thick book in more ways than one. I still haven't done more than dip into The Jane Austen Book Club so I have a lot of reading on my plate. Now that Sept. is here I am hoping I will have time for it all. As for writing, the drought continues.

Went to a child's open house the other night. The photography teacher is having her students keep journals besides developing pictures (as only so many can develop pictures at one time). Anyway this weeks assignment was to draw a room from your childhood with furniture in the places that you remember it and then a story about the furniture or what happened in that room. I think that I may do that eventually but alas cleaning house and working on lesson plans will take top billing this weekend.
Thought that you might like the idea though so I'm passing it on.

What a good idea!!! Thank you so much. I do remember very vividly the bedroom of my childhood...the mousehole under the radiator where I used to leave bits of bread for the mouse, the hardwood floor where I played jacks, and the bed where when I was ill I played house with "paper dolls" cut out from a catalogue.

Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song,
A medley of extemporanea;
And love is a thing that can never go wrong;
And I am Marie of Romania.
